Huddersfield Giants in-form winger Jermaine McGillvary is in the running for the First Utility Super League Player of the Month award for August.

The 27-year-old hometown product, has bagged five tries the first month of Super 8s fixtures.

He takes his place in the top five along with Leeds Rhinos duo Zak Hardaker and Danny McGuire.

Also in the running are Matty Bowen, of Wigan Warriors, and Castleford Tigers’ Michael Shenton.

The Giants appear to be hitting form at just the right time, but still have the Tigers snapping at their heels for the final play-off spot – with the pair meeting at the John Smith’s Staidum on Thursday evening (8pm)..

Working in conjunction with League Weekly and the fans, the competition recognises one player each month for the.

Each fan who votes will go into a prize draw with one lucky supporter getting the chance to present the First Utility Super League Player of the Month trophy to the winning player. The two players with the most votes will then be considered by a judging panel consisting of representatives from First Utility & League Weekly, before the overall winner and August’s Player of the Month will be revealed.

Fans have until 2pm on Thursday, September 3, to register their votes.
