Huddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson’s side moved themselves within touching distance of the Super League semi-finals with a 40-26 Super 8s home win over Castleford Tigers.

After trailing early in the game two tries from Jermaine McGillvary and other touchdowns from Ukuma Ta’ai, Jake Connor, Aaron Murphy, Joe Wardle, Jamie Ellis and Eorl Crabtree – on his 400th appearance for the club – sealed success

Huddersfield Giants v Castleford Tigers. John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield. Eorl Crabtree scores a try on his 400th appearance for the Giants.

However Anderson felt there was more work to do and said: “The best things about last night were the two points.

“The game was a little similar to the St Helens match, with good patches followed by bad patches.

“This proved that we still need to put in a lot of hard work to gain the reward we want.

“ We have to make sure we are a lot better against Warrington a week on Sunday.

“But at least we are four points clear of Castleford and now in an even stronger position.”
