Huddersfield Giants Under 19s were unable to recover from an early Warrington Wolves onslaught as they suffered a 28-8 Academy defeat at the competition leaders last night.

The in-form hosts wasted little time showing their class to open up a 22-4 interval advantage, and the damage had been done.

Coach Chris Thorman’s sixth-placed Giants did rally after the break to narrowly lose the second 40 minutes 6-4, but they were always on the back foot against a Warrington side who made it 19 wins from 22 starts.

It was a result which certainly brought the Giants youngsters back down to earth after their big 64-14 weekend win over Widnes Vikings, although they did manage tries from full-back Jake Connor and back-rower Liam Johnson.
