Ukuma TA’AI has predicted the Giants will put things right at Widnes Vikings tomorrow.

After opening their Super League 2014 campaign with an excellent 24-8 triumph at champions Wigan, Huddersfield were held to a 24-24 draw at home to Hull KR on Sunday after leading 24-6 at half-time.

That second-half slump, when they conceded two tries in the final three minutes to miss out on making it two wins out of two, hit the Giants hard.

But Tongan back-row man Ta’ai is confident there’ll be no repeat at the Select Security Stadium tomorrow night.

“I think we played OK in the first half, but it just turned scrappy,” said the 27-year-old.

“I don’t think it was a lack of effort, we just didn’t complete our sets as we would have liked and our discipline wasn’t good enough.

Paul Anderson said after the game we need to concentrate on doing our jobs right and we’ll get it right next time. We’re confident that’s exactly what we’ll do.

“It’s not the end of the world because it’s only round two, so we aren’t going to panic.”

Huddersfield face a Widnes side who had last weekend off as a result of scheduled opponents Wigan being involved in the World Club Challenge clash against Sydney Roosters in Australia.

Ta’ai accepted the Giants having a week off following victory over Wigan may have been a hindrance against Hull KR.

And he’s hoping it proves a similar problem for the Vikings.

“With us having the week off it felt like we were starting again, while Hull KR played last week,” added the former New Zealand Warriors forward.

“We obviously started on top, so I don’t know how much of an impact it actually had, but it certainly could have played a part.

“So it’ll be interesting to see how having the week off effects Widnes.

“In contrast, it’s a short turnaround for us, but after the events of Sunday we’re looking forward to it.”
