We are currently looking at expanding what we offer to our members, and have come up with the following ideas.

The first one is a trip round Holmfirth Vinery.

This will take place around June when the weather WILL be warmer!

A date has to be finalised, but as places will be limited, a deposit of £2 per person will be required in order to secure your place. Obviously if the date turns out to be unsuitable, your money will be refunded.

Ossett Brewery is also on the cards.

The cost for this will be around £20 and will include the coach and guided tour (including a drink or two). Again, a £2 deposit will guarantee your place on what promises to be a popular outing.

A couple of years ago we held a successful Games Night at Turnbridge. A good laugh was had by all – apart from those who gritted their teeth in an attempt to win! Should this event be repeated?

Over the weekend, in a discussion about HGSA and how to attract more members, someone asked why we do not run other activities and teams.

This particular person agreed to set up and run a Giants Badminton Club if there was any interest. Other suggestions quickly followed: Giants Quiz Team, Giants Darts Team, Giants Pool Team, to name but three.

This has not yet been discussed amongst our wider membership, so if you are interested in anything like these, please let Dave Calverley know (da.calverley@PhotoLens.co.uk, 07887 878425) or leave comments on our Facebook page (search for ‘Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association’).

The greater the participation in such ‘Giants’ clubs and teams, the more successful the parent club will be.

Sadly, our Bunny Hop has had to be cancelled. However, Reindeer Race Night is back on the calendar in December.

With regard to the band, discussions are going well as to what should be played and when.

Whilst not all the musicians come from a Giants background, they have agreed to outplay their South Stand opponents at Leeds on Thursday! So, when they play a familiar tune, let us all join in and sing along.

Thanks to Eddie and the Fanzine, the flags’ initiative is taking off. They were clearly visible at Wigan the other week.

Should you wish to swell the coffers to buy more flags, use the ‘Donate’ button on Fee Fi Fo Fum’s homepage (http://4fsfanzine.giantssupporters.co.uk/index.html) .

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 3 when Sammy Lloyd will be our guest. Sammy played for Castleford and Hull FC in the 70s and 80s, and was a goalkicking second-row forward. As usual, this will be open for all to attend, with non-members paying a mere £1.

Everyone is welcome at all our events. Full details can be found at www.GiantsSupporters.co.uk . For those of you without access to a computer, contact Dave with any comments you want to make.
