Forecast on Thursday “rain, rain, rain,”.

Forecast Friday morning “rain, “.

Forecast Friday afternoon “showers”.

Actual weather on Sunday – sunny, warm, and windy. Perfect [almost] conditions for a cricket match.

And what a match it was!

First of all, there were people in Claret and Gold throwing a ball at some chaps in white who then returned the favour a short while later.

Slogger Anderson showed his class, believing the rumour that the England cricket selectors had been seen in the area.

Rising superstar Jared Simpson rose and flew magnificently to take an ‘impossible’ catch. Selfishly he refused to repeat the performance for a half-asleep cameraman!

And then there was former Fartown favourite and current member of the Giants staff, Brian Blacker.

Well, what can be said of turncoat Blacker?

Not only was he playing for the chaps in white (the Giants Partner team), he actually caught out our very own Chris Thorman! Can you believe it, the audacity of the man!

And at the end of it all someone apparently won!

All in all an excellent afternoon’s entertainment – which would not have been possible without the help of the numerous volunteers and Giants staff who ‘willingly’ gave up their time. Thank you.

We have had our raffle tickets in our hands for just a week now. Already 800 have been distributed for people to sell, thanks mainly to Judith Ling and Trevor Kaye.

They are incredibly easy to sell to Giants fans (three nights in a hotel for next year’s Catalans match and a Giants 2016 season ticket). But for other, less-enlightened folk there are three equally good offerings (meals for two at LaLa’s and Eric’s and a voucher for Broster’s farm shop).

So, if you have not yet received your book of ten, get in touch!

And if someone asks you to buy one say “No, I’ll have two”.

The other major success story is “Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants”.

The newly-formed Heritage Group has only 50 copies remaining out of a print run of 500.

So head over to www.HuddersfieldRLHeritage.co.uk or give David Thorpe a call (01484 533378) and buy yours now before they are all gone.

Full details of all our events can be found at www.GiantsSupporters.co.uk . For our Facebook page, search in Facebook for ‘Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association’.

Finally, I never thought I’d say this, but “Thank You Hull!”
