WE are now well and truly into the off-season.

No more summer rugby until the start of next season – in February!

However, while there are no matches on the immediate horizon, there’s still plenty going on.

The Giants themselves have their Open Day at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

What a great opportunity for us, the fans, to go along and watch the players train and meet them afterwards. It is a brilliant opportunity for autograph hunters to fill some pages in their books.

Then there’s legend Stanley Gene’s initiative to send all our old shirts over to his Papua New Guinea homeland. In return, there is a huge discount on next season’s shirt.

Or how about the panto? Next January at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.

The build-up to the World Cup is progressing nicely, both at the national level and here in Kirklees. There are lots of opportunities for you to become involved.

The Heritage Project is now starting to steam-roller. The website (www.HuddersfieldRLHeritage.co.uk) is growing apace and lots of people are offering memorabilia.

As far as the Supporters Association is concerned, on Friday, December 7 we shall be having our annual Race Night at Turnbridge WMC. Santa has once again agreed to loaning us his reindeer for this special event!

Doors will open at 7.30 in order to see the reindeer in the paddock preparing for their first race at 8pm. Rumour has it that Santa himself might turn up to host the event if he can trust his elves to continue the packing by themselves!

January sees another of our annual events – the Start Of Season meal. We have acted upon members’ comments and we shall be eating at the Marimonte, Viaduct Street. Despite being a Steakhouse, vegetarians are catered for.

In addition to our quality guests on Tuesday evenings, we are in the process of putting together an exciting package of pre-match activities at the Stadium, including a repeat of last season’s highly successful Junior Disco.

To make things easier for you to see what’s going on, we have updated the type of calendar on our website. As time progresses, this should list all the activities surrounding the club.

The fixtures have now been released and Baloo (head coach Paul Anderson) has put in place a team as good as anyone’s. Next season is only a mouth-watering 10 weeks away.

What better way to support our club than making sure you have your season ticket and encouraging others to buy one?

See you on Saturday!
