Experienced Ryan Hinchcliffe will lead the resurgent Huddersfield Giants into Super League battle at stuttering Widnes Vikings on Sunday taking nothing for granted.

The former Melbourne Storm star was at the heart of his side’s 48-20 Magic Weekend destruction of St Helens as Huddersfield underlined their recent improvement in form.

Although the Giants remain second bottom, coach Paul Anderson’s men head to Widnes having won three of their last five top-flight fixtures, while the eighth-placed Vikings have now lost eight on the trot.

But Hinchcliffe is ignoring all the pre-match statistics.

“Things are looking brighter for us,” said the 30-year-old hooker.

“Our form’s been improving and we’re getting players back from injury.

“But the last thing we’re thinking of doing is falling in love with ourselves, even after such a good victory as the one we got against Saints at the weekend.

“It’s all about building and building and improving on each game we play.

“That’s the aim next week, and if we do that then we know we’ll put ourselves in a good position.”
