Huddersfield Giants' opening pre-season clash at Bradford Bulls has been called off.

Heavy Odsal Stadium frost and snow meant a decision to cancel the contest was taken around 11.30am.

Bulls officials had called for volunteers to turn up at the ground with shovels first thing this morning in a bid to clear the pitch and the stadium approaches, but those efforts proved in vain.

The cancellation means the Giants could go into their opening Super League XX clash at home to Hull FC on Sunday, February 8 with just one
warm-up game under their belt - next Sunday's trip to Halifax.

Huddersfield may now, however, look to stage another pre-season contest in order for the squad to get extra gametime under their belts
before hosting the Black and Whites of Hull.
