THE armed forces are planning to invade the John Smith’s Stadium to make sure Sunday’s Giants-Rhinos Super League clash is more explosive than ever!
As part of the ‘Yorkshire’s Main Event Part 2’ matchday promotional campaign, the Yorkshire Regiment and Yorkshire Gunners will be taking over the stadium’s community area and renaming it the Side by Side Zone (from 1pm).
The ‘SbS’ Zone will be displaying an inflatable paint-balling range where supporters will be able to test their skills on the trigger as well as climb up into a number of army vehicles on display.
There will also be a range of tents displaying a fantastic mix of armed forces personnel equipment and weapons, including osprey body armour, a Bergen packed to infantry fitness test weight, specialist belt kit, SA80 A2 rifle and general-purpose machine guns.
And for those supporters with a sweet tooth, the Side by Side Zone main partner, Yummy Yorkshire Ice Cream Company, will also have their vintage ice cream van in the middle of the SbS Zone with a great range of their products on sale.
“To say Sunday’s massive home game is looking like being an amazing event is an understatement,” said Giants Business Development Manager Robbie Hunter-Paul.
