Paul Anderson believes the Huddersfield Giants have once again shown the form that made them such a ‘great team’ in 2013.

After drawing 24-24 at home to Hull KR a fortnight ago and suffering a 22-20 defeat at Widnes Vikings a week later, Huddersfield hit back with a battling 12-12 draw against in-form Leeds Rhinos at the John Smith’s Stadium last night.

And after the two stuttering displays in the previous weeks, Anderson is hoping last night’s performance is a taste of things to come.

“That was more like the ‘great team’ Huddersfield Giants are,” said Anderson, who revealed Ukuma Ta’ai was left out of the side as a disciplinary measure after turning up late for training.

“The improvement between last week and this was just what we were looking for, and now it’s just a case of building on this.

“In the end we got a point against a very good Leeds side who are in excellent form, but we created enough chances to win five games last night.

“That’s how pleasing this performance was.”

But there was one big disappointment on the night with the knee injury picked up by new winger Jodie Broughton early in the second half.

“It looked a nasty one, and we just hope he’s OK,” added Anderson.

“And it was a real shame for him, because he looked good and took his try well.”
