Brett Ferres is facing at least eight weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his torn right bicep.

The Giants vice-captain suffered the injury during last week’s 14-12 triumph at Catalans Dragons and missed the 34-24 home win over Wakefield as Huddersfield secured a fourth-placed Super League finish.

But head coach Paul Anderson is hoping the England back-row forward could be back for the final few play-off fixtures.

Brett’s going to be out for between eight to 10 weeks,” said Anderson.

“If he does the right things during his rehab it means he could be back for the end of the Super 8s, which would obviously be good.

“We’ve now got a break for a couple of weeks – because it’s Challenge Cup weekend next weekend – before the 8s get under way, so we are hopeful we’ll se him again before the end of the year.”
