GIANTS coach Nathan Brown will have a strong hand as his side shape to deny Wigan the home success they crave on Sunday.

The table-topping Warriors can secure the Minor Premiership should they beat the Giants at the DW Stadium (6.45), but they will face a Giants side brimming with confidence and with key players back in contention for selection.

The break for the Challenge Cup semi-finals has given Brown and his staff breathing space and, with exception of Jamahl Lolesi and the casualty of the 58-6 win over Wakefield, Larne Patrick, the head coach has a full complement to choose from.

“It has been a good break and I think most people have had a good rest,” said Brown.

“That might not include our medical staff and the players who were on the injury list as they have had some hard work to do while everyone else got time off.

“But things have worked out well over the past two weeks and we have got some players back.

“That means I have got some hard decisions to make when it comes to selection, but that is a lot better than where we were a week or so ago.

“We will have Brett Hodgson, Keith Mason, David Fa’alogo, Luke Robinson and Andy Raleigh back in contention and I think the only one – other than obviously Larne Patrick – who will need another week or so is Jamahl Lolesi.”

However, the news on Patrick is very positive with fears that he would not feature again this season seemingly receding at some pace.

“Larne’s injury is not as bad as we first thought, but it is going to be three weeks before he is in the running to be playing again,” added Brown.

“It really all depends on how things unfold and it could be that he takes a little longer, but just at the moment he looks to have a chance to be right and ready to have a go at the play-offs.”
