EXPLOSIVE Giants winger Jermaine McGillvary is determined to celebrate his 50th appearance by firing his hometown club into the semi-final of the Challenge Cup.

Huddersfield head into tomorrow’s quarter-final home clash against London Broncos (5.00) as red-hot favourites to triumph.

Victory would secure the Giants a fourth semi-final appearance in eight years and take them to within 80 minutes of a Wembley final.

And the 23-year-old England Knights ace is desperate to do what he can to make sure his dream start to his Giants’ career continues.

“It only seems like two minutes ago since I made my debut at Bradford Bulls,” he said.

“In fact, it’s two years ago, and I managed to score two tries.

“That game and playing at the Millennium Stadium in front of 33,000 in last season’s Magic Weekend are probably two of the highlights of my career so far.

“But being able to mark my 50th appearance by helping us reach a Challenge Cup semi-final would obviously be right up there.

“I remember how gutted I was to lose at Castleford in the quarter-final last season, and I don’t want to experience anything like that again.

“But I’m confident we won’t.

“We’re are playing a lot better than last year and have a better team, so that should stand us in good stead for the weekend.

“In a Cup game anybody can beat anybody it’s just a case of what happens on the day.

“If you perform you can win. No matter who you are playing you have to be on top of your game.

“I’m hopeful we can go all the way and do it for Browny, because we’d love to see him finish his time here at the end of the season with a bit of silverware.”

McGillvary is expected to be part of a Giants side that will show very limited changes to the side that was beaten 27-20 at Catalan Dragons a week ago.

The only likely change is the return of Lee Gilmour after the birth of his son last Saturday.
