DALE FERGUSON could remain at Hull KR for more than a month – if Rovers’ chief Craig Sandercock has his way.

The Giants’ back-row forward has made a positive impression on the east coast during the opening three weeks of his initial one-month loan.

The form of fellow back-rowers Jason Chan, Jamie Cording, Jacob Fairbank, David Faiumu and Brett Ferres, as well as the rapidly-increasing fitness of new arrival Ukuma Ta’ai, has meant Ferguson has fallen down Huddersfield’s Super League XVIII pecking order.

Ferguson’s loan deal is now obviously coming to an end and, with such a relatively fit squad still at Giants chief Paul Anderson’s disposal, Hull KR coach Sandercock is hoping a new deal can soon be struck.

“If I had an opportunity to keep him longer, I would want to,” said Sandercock.

“Dale is on loan for a month, but after that we will sit down and go from there.

“At this stage he is doing everything we have asked of him, and he’s fitted in really well. All in all, I’m very happy with him, but what I want is not always what I get.”
