JIM GANNON is ready to re-light the Giants' challenge in Super League!

The 28-year-old prop today makes his first appearance in six months as Huddersfield look to return to winning ways with a home win over struggling Wigan (6.05).

The powerful Australian has not played since undergoing a knee reconstruction at the end of last season.

But today he steps back onto the field, determined to make up for lost time and to help get the Giants back on the play-off track.

What role Gannon will play is being kept under wraps, but he is just delighted to be back on the scene.

"However Jon (Sharp) uses me, I'll be happy. It's just great to be back!" he announced.

"The last six months have been really hard, but I feel ready and I just want to get back out there and do what I can to help the Giants make the top six.

"During my time on the sidelines, I've learned a lot about myself.

"There were times when I wondered whether I would be able to play again, and that makes you appreciate even more how good it is to be coming back.

"I'm feeling fitter now than I have done in years, and I'm now stronger than ever before.

"I've used my time on the sidelines to get over all my knocks and I've worked on the weights to improve my overall strength.

"In fact, I've just set a personal best for my bench press and leg squat.

"As a result, I've felt really strong hitting through the tackles in training.

"Now it's a case of testing myself on the field, and I can't wait!"
