Jack Hughes couldn’t have received a warmer welcome from the Huddersfield Giants.

The on-loan Wigan Warriors back-row forward met up with his new teammates for the first time earlier in the week as the countdown to the 2015 Super League season officially got under way.

The 22-year-old arrived at the John Smith’s Stadium as part of the deal which saw Larne Patrick move in the opposite direction.

And Hughes couldn’t be happier with the way things are working out.

“Last season with Wigan was really frustrating. I was in and out of the side and my career just wasn’t kicking on as I’d hoped,” said Hughes.

“So coming here has been like a breath of fresh air.

This is my chance to get my career back on track, and I’m confident this is the club where I can do it.

“I’ve found it pretty easy settling straight in, because I already knew about half-a-dozen of the Huddersfield lads through the England Knights. It’s also helped that the Knights coach is (Giants No2) Keiron Purtill.

“Everyone here has made me feel really welcome.

“The work we’ve been doing this week has been tough, although that’s exactly what I expected.

“Huddersfield aren’t far behind Wigan in terms of winning the major prizes, and the work we put in now is vital in trying to make sure we’re as competitive as we can be next season. The mood among everyone is definitely positive.”
