Jack Hughes believes everything is finally falling into place with the Huddersfield Giants attack.

Huddersfield put their recent Super League woes with ball in hand firmly behind them with their convincing 38-14 home win over Catalans Dragons to take them back up to fifth in the top-flight table.

The victory ended a run of three successive defeats when a blunt attacking edge proved to be the Giants’ downfall on each occasion.

But having crossed for seven tries against outclassed Catalans, Hughes is confident Huddersfield are ready to push on.

”Things felt an awful lot better out there against the Dragons,” said the on-loan Wigan back-row forward.

“We’ve obviously worked a lot on our attack this week and it didn’t take too long for us to feel the benefits.

“We were a lot more organised and everyone knew exactly what they were doing. As a result, it’s helped build our confidence in our attack and in our systems, and now it’s a case of making sure we build on that.

“Our defence has been very good this year – we’ve still the best in the competition so far this year – and now we’re starting to focus more on getting our attack right, and it looks like it’s paying off.

“The big Catalans pack did throw a lot at us and like to play a physical game, but we’re also big and we can aim up and hit hard if we need to.”

And Hughes is encouraged with the way his game’s progressing during his season-long loan spell from the Warriors.

“One of my main aims is to be more consistent, and that’s what I feel I’m becoming,” added the 23-year-old.

“I never stop trying to be better, because my main aim is to prove I should be a regular starting back-row forward in Super League.

“Playing consistently will obviously help in that, and it’s been great to get a regular start at the Giants.

“It’s been great to get the amount of game time I have here, that’s been a big thing for me.

“But the fact our form has been so inconsistent has taken a lot of the gloss off that.

“What I want more than anything right now is for me to keep on improving and for us to start winning on a far more regular basis.

“After this win over Catalans, I don’t see why that won’t happen.

“Everything is in place for me and for the team to push on. It’s in our hands.”

There was a minute’s silence before the game in honour of Huddersfield Giants Life Member, lifelong support and Senior Giants driving force Nancy Beaumont, who died over the weekend.
