Huddersfield Giants’ flying winger Jermaine McGillvary has swept the club awards.

The hometown 27-year-old has run in a club record Super League haul of 26 tries so far this season and has been recognised for his efforts in the Giants’ run to the Super 8s semi-finals.

McGillvary is Players’ Player of the Year, Coaches’ Player of the Year and, most importantly, Supporters’ Player of the Year.

Having completed 100 career tries in the latest win at Hull FC, too, he collected the Gold Award for best back as well as the Top Tryscorer prize at last night’s John Smith’s Stadium awards dinner.

Second row Jack Hughes was the winner of the Claret Award which, like the Gold Award, is a statistics-based prize for best forward.

The Outstanding Achievement Award, selected by the club’s board of directors, went to iconic Giants prop Eorl Crabtree, who has now made his 400th appearance for his hometown club.

Some of the club’s aspiring young talents were rewarded for their efforts throughout the year with Matthew English claiming the Academy Player of the Year and Tom Hugill winning the Andrew Hook Memorial Award for the Scholarship Player of the Year.

Academy player Will Carlos was also recognised as he took home the Keith Burhouse Memorial Award – a special honour for services to the Club’s Academy.

Promising forward Liam Johnson was named Community Player of the Year after making a great number of appearances in schools and at the heart of the community in his first year in the first-team squad.
