GIANTS chief Jon Sharp is hoping for another favourable pairing as he sets his sights on reaching the Challenge Cup final for the second time in three seasons.

Huddersfield yesterday booked their place in tomorrow’s fifth-round draw after a 42-24 triumph at National League neighbours Halifax.

Avoiding one of the other 10 Super League sides still left in the competition is obviously a top priority.

But whoever the Giants face, Sharp is determined to ensure his side make further cup progress.

“The Challenge Cup has been good for us over the past few years, and we want it to be good for us again,” he said.

“The memories of our cup final appearance two years ago are still fresh in our minds, and it would be fantastic if we could live that dream again.

“But we obviously can’t afford to get too carried away at this stage.

“Right now, it’s just great to have got past Halifax and be in the bag for the next round, because this tie was always going to be a tricky one for us.

“They’ve not been going too badly this season, and we knew if we weren’t switched on from the start it could be tough.

“Fortunately, we were quickly ahead and that helped us tremendously.

“There were times during the game when Halifax put us under some real pressure, and credit to them for the way they played.

“But, overall, I thought we handled things well and can now look forward to tomorrow night.

“To be honest, I don’t want to state publicly what my ideal draw would be, because I always seem to get the opposite of what I ask for!

“However, I’m sure everybody will have a rough idea.”

Yesterday’s squad all came through the tie injury-free and all are in contention for next Sunday’s Super League trip to Hull.

They will also be joined by George Gatis and Stuart Jones, who missed out on selection.
