JOE WARDLE is the most significant mover in the Huddersfield Giants’ numbers game for Super League XVIII.
The 21-year-old will next season wear the No4 first-choice centre shirt to mark his continued meteoric rise up the claret and gold pecking order.
His new jersey was officially unveiled today as the club announced their squad numbers for 2013.
When England Knights three-quarter Wardle first arrived from Bradford Bulls two years ago he was named at No29 and was last year promoted to 17, but he has now been handed one of the top 13 shirts after another top-quality campaign.
Also occupying first-choice Giants numbers for the first time are Luke George (from No20 to No2), new signing Craig Kopczak (No10) and Brett Ferres (No11). Back at nine is Shaun Lunt following his return from a loan spell at Super League Grand Final winners Leeds Rhinos. He was No14 for the Giants last year.
Of Huddersfield’s other new signings, Ukuma Ta’ai is 17, Anthony Mullally 22 and Ben Blackmore 27, while former Great Britain prop Stuart Field will don the No29 shirt that served him so well during the glory days at Bradford Bulls.
