Jordan Simpson scored four tries as in-form Huddersfield Giants Under 19s maintained their excellent Academy campaign with a 58-22 home triumph over Sheffield Eagles.

The victory made it nine wins on the trot for coach Chris Thorman’s side ahead of Saturday’s crucial play-off clash at leaders Wigan Warriors.

That’s a contest that’s expected to test the Giants youngsters to the full, with Huddersfield always expected to be too strong for struggling Sheffield.

As well as the four tries for winger Simpson, centre George Croisdale chipped in with two and fellow centre Tom Battye, scrum half Jack Miller, hooker Kruise Leeming and prop Jack Blagborough grabbed one each.

Miller completed the scoring with nine goals.

Meanwhile, top Giants youngsters Frazer Morris and Will Gledhill have been named in the 20-man England Youth squad to face Wales Under 16s in Cardiff on Friday, August 30.

The squad features 11 members of the one that defeated the Welsh Schoolboys in a dramatic 22-18 contest in April and England Youth coach Stuart Barrow will be hoping his side can make it two from two against Welsh opposition.

Hull FC have the largest contingent of players in the squad, with four Arlie Birds in the 20-strong contingent while Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves both have three representatives.

The Giants, London Broncos, St Helens and Wigan Warriors all have two players selected, while sole representatives from Widnes Vikings and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats complete the make-up.
