BUSY Giants coach Jon Sharp was today checking on the fitness of his players ahead of Sunday's trip to face National League I side Batley Bulldogs at Mount Pleasant (3.00).
It's expected former Batley chief Sharp will field a squad packed with Academy players and resist the temptation to give his senior men another run.
That's still to be confirmed, with Sharp having the option of including first-team players if he believes they haven't had enough game time so far.
Bulldogs boss Gary Thornton, on the other hand, has made it clear he intends to field a strong squad as they gear-up for the start of their campaign.
That means an expected appearance for former Giants centre Stephen Jones, who played one Super League fixture for Huddersfield last season before his move to the Heavy Woollen.
