DELIGHTED Giants officials expect to see The Shay and Mount Pleasant in a sea of claret and gold later this season.

Huddersfield’s three Super League fixtures to be held in Halifax during the summer to enable pitch reconstruction at the Galpharm Stadium are heading for sell-outs.

And the Giants are rapidly running out of tickets for their Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth-round derby clash at Batley Bulldogs on Sunday, May 8 (3.00).

All seat tickets for the trip to Mount Pleasant have been snapped up, with just several hundred places remaining for the standing area in the Craig Lingard Stand behind the goal.

Demand for all four games has been high because admission is included in a Giants season ticket, with the club boasting around 5,000 holders.

But with fans having to exchange their vouchers for a match ticket at the Galpharm Stadium, Giants officials are urging supporters to snap them up quickly to avoid disappointment.

“We couldn’t have been happier with the fans’ interest to all four games,” said Giants marketing manager James Brammer.

“Our traditional pre-season game at Batley is always popular among the fans, and they’ll be there in their thousands for the Cup-tie.

“It’s already building up to be a fantastic occasion.

“And we also couldn’t be happier with the way the fans have responded to having to play three of our Super League games at Halifax.

“We did wonder what the uptake might be when fans had to exchange their vouchers for the Shay games at the start of the month, but it was overwhelming.

“Like for the Batley game, we’re already convinced the atmosphere will be electric.

“As a result, our advice is to come down to the ticket office and get your tickets as quickly as possible.

“Those that still remain are being snapped up on a daily basis. At this rate, it won’t be too long before they’re all gone.”

Tickets for The Shay’s East Stand (main new stand) are already sold out for all three top-flight fixtures against Castleford (June 5), Catalan (June 19) and Crusaders (July 3).

There are some tickets still remaining for the seated West Stand and South Terrace, with any tickets that are left going on general sale to non-season ticket holders on Wednesday, April 27.
