INJURIES are almost impossible to avoid at this time of the year.
The tight Bank Holiday schedule means players have less time to get over their knocks, and that makes them more prone to injury in the next game.
Unfortunately, the Giants are no exception to this rule.
Those who saw the game against the Bulls would have seen how these injuries took their toll.
Many players were carrying knocks on Tuesday night, but the most notable were those to Paul Reilly, pictured right, and Stephen Wild.
We lost Paul early in the piece when he took a very heavy blow to the head and had to be helped off the field.
But everyone knows Paul is as tough as they come, and I think it came as a shock to many that he was able to return to the field later on.
However, it simply wouldn't have been fair to have picked Paul again this weekend.
Right now, he's got knocks all over his body and needs time to get over them.
The feeling is that with a bit of rest, we'll soon see Paul back to his best.
And rest could also be the key for Stephen.
He picked up his knee injury in our Challenge Cup win at Halifax on April 2 and is still feeling the effects.
Hopefully, the specialist will get to the bottom of it next week and, like with Paul, we can soon see Stephen back at his best.
