Huddersfield Giants now have the confidence they can go on and win a Super League Grand Final.

That’s the view of in-form Huddersfield-born centre Leroy Cudjoe after helping his hometown club lift the League Leaders Shield for the first time.

The 25-year-old was one of the stars of the show as Huddersfield beat Wakefield 40-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium to finish at the top of British rugby league for the first time in 81 years.

And Cudjoe knows that success will stand the Giants in good stead when the play-offs get under way in just over a week.

“Winning the Shield has shown everyone what a good side we are,” said former Newsome Panthers junior Cudjoe.

“We always felt we were capable of lifting the Shield, and now we’ve gone and proved it.

“And that’s done a tremendous amount for our confidence.

“It’s done wonders for our self-belief and made us even more convinced we have what it takes to reach Old Trafford and win the Grand Final.

“I remember when I first signed professionally for the Giants as a 16-year-old how they were still trying to establish themselves as a Super League side.

“We’ve not looked back since then, and I know there’s a lot more still to come.”
