Warrington Wolves are believed to be close to confirming the Super League signing of Jack Hughes for 2016.

The Giants admitted at the end of last week the 23-year-old back-row forward would be returning to parent club Wigan at the end of the current campaign after completing a highly-successful season-long loan at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Former England Knights star Hughes has been an ever-present for the Giants this year and played a major role in helping Huddersfield secure a top-four finish at the end of the regular season.

Speculation mounted towards the end of last week that a deal had been done for the Wigan-based Hughes to move to the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with the Warriors having the final say over where Hughes would be playing next year.

And that could well be confirmed before Hughes does battle with the Giants in Friday’s home Super 8s clash against Catalans Dragons.
