Huddersfield Giants chief Paul Anderson is backing Luke Robinson to take his new Super League role by storm.

With new signing Jamie Ellis teaming up at half-back with Danny Brough and impressing on his debut in the convincing 38-6 weekend trial triumph at Halifax, Robinson started the game at hooker.

That’s a role he’s expected to share with 2013 Super League Dream Team hooker Shaun Lunt.

And Anderson believes they could prove a destructive combination, particularly with the way Robinson – a former England international hooker – embraced his new responsibilities against outclassed Fax.

“He’s mad is the little fella, isn’t he?” announced Anderson after seeing Robinson destroy the opposition around the ruck.

“But he’s also a good pro and a good competitor.

“Robbo is Robbo, and I’m happy with everything he does.

“He brings you a lot of energy when he’s out on the field, which is exactly what he did against Halifax at the weekend.

“I know he’ll give you 100% whatever role he’s given.”
