INFLUENTIAL Giants half-back Paul March heads into Friday's Super League showdown with Hull at the McAlpine (8.00) with a new two-year deal in the bag.

The 24-year-old goalkicking ace has made an outstanding start to the season and been central to Huddersfield's climb up the top-flight ladder.

March has followed the lead of prop Mick Slicker in signing a contract extension, which suggests the Giants are already planning for next season.

The news has delighted coach Jon Sharp, who believes March's form has shown a big improvement this year.

"When I first arrived at the club, I think it's fair to say that Paul wasn't the perfect physical specimen," said Sharp.

"He looked a little sluggish and slightly overweight.

"But due to his attitude and tremendous hard work that's no longer the case.

"He's now a key member of the squad and brings a lot of qualities to us.

"He's developed an extra yard of pace, which was first apparent with his try in the opening win over Castleford.

"Furthermore, Paul's become a very consistent goalkicker and silenced all those who felt this was an area where we would suffer."
