Giants Head of Youth Performance Andy Kelly is hoping Matty English will be able to build on his successful trip to Australia with England Academy.
Prop forward English featured in both Test matches against the very impressive Australian Schoolboys, with Kelly the England head coach.
And although beaten 2-0 in the Test series, Kelly was full of praise for the way English played, and he’s looking for him to build on his experiences back at the Giants.
“In my opinion Matty was one of our top five performers,” said Kelly.
“He just did everything you asked of him and he couldn’t give anymore.
“In the Test matches, along with many other players from other clubs, we couldn’t have asked any more from him and he will have learned a lot from his time out there.
“Hopefully, that will be reflected in the way he plays back at the Giants.”
And that will be put to the test for the first time tonight, when English lines up for the Giants for the Under 19s Academy clash at Leeds Rhinos (7.00).
Coach Chris Thorman’s side are still in the play-off mix, with Huddersfield having hopes that the return to the fold of such an influential player as English (right) will make all the difference as the visitiors chase a ninth success of the season. They would also leapfrog Leeds in the table.
