The Huddersfield loose-forward was in the Bradford Bulls side beaten 32-22 by St Helens in the 1997 Challenge Cup final at Wembley.
That was obviously one of the highlights of McNamara's career.
And even though the Giants are not expected to go all the way, the 30-year-old is still as excited as ever about playing in rugby league's most famous knock-out competition.
"I've got some fantastic memories of the Challenge Cup and a good Cup run can do a club a power of good," he said.
"We're obviously expecting to reach the fourth round, and if the draw goes according to plan there's no reason why we can't make further progress.
"But we won't be taking Wath Brow lightly.
"I've been associated with the amateur game for many years with Skirlaugh and I know how desperate the clubs are to do well. Wath will be no exception."
