RISING Giants star Michael Lawrence has been named in the England Academy Under 17s initial train-on squad.
His call-up crowns an excellent couple of months for the youngster, who has been handed a full-time Super League contract from 2008.
And also included in the squad is Lawrence’s former Newsome Panthers clubmate Jason Crookes, who is now at Bradford Bulls.
The squad are preparing for two Test matches against the Australian Institute of Sport later this Autumn.
The first will takes place on November 23 at Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington, with the second game on November 30 at Belle Vue, Wakefield.
Before then, Lawrence still has his commitments with the Giants, which continue tonight with the re-arranged trip to Warrington Wolves (7.30)
