JASON CHAN believes the Huddersfield Giants are ready to produce their strongest display of the season at Super League champions Leeds tomorrow (8.00) and get the disappointment of the Hull KR defeat immediately out of their system.

The in-form back-rower admits Huddersfield are still smarting from their 40-22 defeat on the east coast.

Victory that day would have taken the Giants back to the top of the Super League XVII table.

But the 27-year-old Papua New Guinea international feels everything is in place to make amends against the Rhinos.

“We know we let ourselves down with our performance at Hull KR at the weekend,” said Chan. “I don’t think it’s a case of having to prove ourselves tomorrow, because we know we’re a good team and there’s plenty of talent in the squad.

“But we certainly want to go out there and show everyone the performance at Hull KR was nothing more than a blip.

“If we can go and beat the champions at Headingley it will certainly stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.

“You often find that facing the champions can bring the very best out of you, and we’re confident that will be the case with us tomorrow.

“If we do that then I know we’ll give ourselves a really good chance. We know we can do it.”

Chan is set to retain his ever-present tag after being named in the Giants’ 19-man squad for tomorrow’s West Yorkshire derby.

Also included for the first time this year is Luke O’Donnell following a knee reconstruction last autumn, while fellow former test back-rower David Fa’alogo.

The powerful New Zealander suffered a compound fracture of a finger during the defeat at Hull KR, but has a good chance of making a recovery in time to line up against the Rhinos.
