A somewhat more relaxed column this week.
Last week I forgot to send The Examiner’s Chris Roberts the article before going to the North York Moors for a mini-break.
Fortunately, I managed to find a hotspot on the streets on Whitby where I could use my tablet to send the column through to Chris. I did get a few strange looks from passers-by as I kept stopping to see whether I had a signal or not. The wonders of the digital age!!
There will be a Junior Disco in the Fantastic Media Suite pre-Castleford on Sunday. It will be free for youngsters up to 12 years of age.
Next week our managing director, Richard Thewlis, will be our guest at Turnbridge WMC. All are welcome to attend and gently grill Richard (guests £1); It’s 7.30 for a 7.45 start.
There are still one or two places remaining for the breakfast trip to Magic Weekend Sunday.
A quick plug that the FeeFiFoFum Fanzine issue 3 is now online on http://4fsfanzine.giantssupporters.co.uk/index.html.
The Heritage Exhibition at the Tolson Museum closes this weekend. Make sure you see it before we dismantle it next week.
Our annual raffle is about to begin. The first prize is a day out with Sky Sports, which is a real coup as this is only available to one club in any year. The second prize is a signed Leroy Cudjoe player shirt, the third a couple of post-match passes to the hospitality suite at a game of personal choice. Please help get the word out.
We are also asking if you can help with the sale of tickets. These will be available at the Castleford game, from our table in front of the stadium’s main entrance. The tickets cost £1 each and come in booklets of five, but can be sold individually. The draw will be made at the Salford game on July 5.
If you are able to help with the sale of tickets at the stadium at the Castleford, Wigan and London fixtures we would love to hear from you.
All the money we raise goes towards junior player development. Let’s see how much we can raise to help with the continuing development of our club and team.
We’ve had a request from Eileen Raleigh:
‘I’m asking again for your help! Andy is having a curry and sheep racing night at the Irish Club on Fitzwilliam Street. It is on May 12 and tickets are £10.00. As we have to organise and pay for the curries (from Mumbai Spice) beforehand, this won’t be a ‘pay on the door’ event. Please advertise it and come along with mates if you can! Many thanks. Eileen. PS We are expecting several Giants players attending, all being well.’
