TOP new signing Chris Nero can expect to come in for some close attention in tomorrow's McAlpine Super League clash against Bradford Bulls (3.00).

The fact his current form has been so good is already guaranteed to make him a marked man.

But with Nero having been a close-season target of the Bulls, his presence will add even more flavour to this mouth-watering clash.

Bradford coach Brian Noble was keen to sign the former St George star on a one-year deal.

But Nero wanted two, and the Giants duly obliged and secured his signature.

It was a move which will have disappointed the Odsal camp, with Noble admitting how highly he rated the 23-year-old back-rower when he began the chase to sign him.

Yet Nero has not let this recent history affect the way he has prepared for the Giants' biggest game of the season.

"As far as I'm concerned, it's water under the bridge," said Nero.

"When you know you'll be leaving a club you hope there are others keen to take you on, and I was honoured that Bradford were interested in me.

"But it was the chance to secure a two-year contract that I wanted, and I was delighted the Giants were in a position to do so.

"And at this particular time, I'm glad I went for the Giants option.

"Everyone here has been great in the way they have been helping me settle in and I already feel very much at home in Huddersfield.

"I'm also enjoying the Giants style of play.

"I know I can play better, but I've been fairly happy with the way it's gone so far, and I hope it continues.

"After feeling off-colour last week I'm hoping to put in a big game tomorrow.

"I've put in a good week's work, but the fact I didn't join them hasn't had a bearing on that.

"I'm also sure it won't have any bearing on the way the Bulls prepare to tackle me.

"Whatever tactics they adopt, we know they will be exceptionally tough.

"It's going to be a massive challenge, but all the boys here can't wait."
