GIANTS prospect Jacob Fairbank aims to prove he’s up to speed this week for his next Super League test.

Coach Nathan Brown’s side are back in action on Friday night, when they visit defeated Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-finalists St Helens.

While the club are hoping to have more selection options as injured players get fit, Fairbank is focused on building on his top-flight debut performance in the home win against Hull KR and handling the pace of Super League play.

“I found it to be really quick compared with playing Championship rugby week in week out – probably twice as fast,” said Fairbank.

“But I enjoyed the experience and I was pretty happy with the way I played. There are a few aspects of my defence that I know I can work on, but all in all I thought I adapted quite well.

“There was the odd time I felt a bit exposed, but that’s to be expected for my first game and the senior blokes in the middle like Darrell Griffin, Eorl Crabtree and Luke Robinson were always talking to me and helping me out.

“It was a little nerve wracking, but I’m glad to get my Super League debut out of the way and hopefully now I can kick on and play a bit more at that level.”
