Fitness chief Greg Brown has warned the Huddersfield Giants there will be no let-up in the ‘brutal’ nature of the pre-season work between now and Christmas.

Every member of Huddersfield’s 2015 Super League squad has admitted the training is the most punishing they’ve ever experienced.

The players’ hope was that the workload would begin to ease off as the top-flight opener at home to Hull FC on Sunday, February 8 drew nearer.

But Brown has made it crystal clear that won’t be the case.

“There’s already been a lot of hard work, we’re not messing about this year,” said Brown.

“We’re taking the pre-season very seriously. The training has been absolutely brutal and it will continue to be as brutal as it has been for the next four to five weeks.

“I think the players probably realised that from day one, because that was when we set the tone.

“We generally pride ourselves on being pretty strong, fit and robust as players (as the sport requires) and the head coach (Paul Anderson) has stipulated the things he wants.

“Everything is geared up to making sure we start next season really, really well.”
