PAUL ANDERSON is hoping Aaron Murphy can maintain the ‘world-class’ form he produced to help the Giants beat Leeds Rhinos last Friday night.

The former Leeds Academy three-quarter produced an excellent all-round game to help Huddersfield win 28-20 and lift themselves above the Rhinos at the bottom of the Super League XXI table.

Murphy switched from left wing to left centre on the night and kept England ace Kallum Watkins quiet all game.

And Anderson is looking for his unsung hero to repeat the act when the two teams go head-to-head at the John Smith’s Stadium again this Friday in the sixth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

“I thought Aaron Murphy was world-class the other night,” said Anderson, who was also impressed with the foundations laid by his pack on the night.

“I’ve said in the past how much of an under-rated player he is.

"He’s a very valuable member of our team and is always a consistent performer.

“He did an outstanding job defensively to keep Kallum Watkins as quiet as he did, while he was always a real threat on attack.

“Hopefully, it’ll be a similar story this Friday night as well.

“Although our performance against Leeds the other night was far from perfect, we’re still heading into this week’s Cup-tie having won two of our last three games.

“That’s clearly a sign that we’re heading in the right direction, and we have to make sure we keep heading that way in the Cup.”
