GIANTS officials have given a big thumbs-up to featuring in the opening Sunday engage Super League game at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
Huddersfield will go head to head with Wakefield at 2pm on May 6 next year.
It is one of six Super League fixtures to be staged in the Welsh capital as part of the Millennium Magic weekend.
The Giants' clash with the Wildcats on the Sunday is followed by Salford and Warrington at 4pm and Bradford and Leeds at 6pm.
The day before, it will be Catalans v Harlequins (3pm), Hull v Hull KR (5pm) and St Helens v Wigan (7pm).
And Giants football manager Stuart Sheard believes his club has been handed the perfect slot.
"If we had been offered a time and a date, this would probably have been the one we would have chosen," said Sheard.
"It means we will have the chance to have a proper warm-up, unlike the teams that follow.
"We will then be able to play on a pitch that hasn't been churned up by staging games beforehand, and will then be able to travel home at a reasonable hour."
