KIERON PURTILL has emerged as the hot favourite to be reunited with Paul Anderson as the Giants’ new assistant coach.

Purtill has been out of work since being axed by St Helens at the same time as head coach Royce Simmons a month ago.

And he would seem to be the ideal No2 to Anderson, who is taking over as Huddersfield head coach from Nathan Brown next season.

Purtill worked for the Giants alongside Anderson between 2005-2008 and proved to be a very successful joint temporary coaching team when Jon Sharp was sacked as head coach midway through 2008.

Former Canadian national team boss Purtill is also a member of the RFL’s elite coaching team.
