Honest Eorl Crabtree believes new Huddersfield Giants boss Rick Stone is the right man to help him re-discover his best form.

By his own admission, the 33-year-old former England prop has failed to fire since returning from mid-season groin surgery.

But under Stone’s fresh approach, Crabtree feels he’s in far better shape to help in Huddersfield’s bid to avoid Super League relegation with major success in the Middle 8s.

“This has been a tough time for me,” revealed Crabtree.

“And the fact the side’s been struggling has made it even harder.

“Since I had the surgery to repair the torn ligament in my groin, I just don’t think I’ve had the time to recover from it properly. It’s been a real struggle to get back to my best.

“But Rick’s come in and immediately taken steps to address the problem.

“He wants to make me fitter and get me in better shape, and I already feel that’s paying off.

“I know it’s early days, but I do genuinely feel I’ve got through the other side, and I want to play a big part in a Rick Stone side.

“I like the way he’s not shy in telling you what you’re doing right and he’s equally not shy in telling you what you’re doing wrong.

“He’s definitely lifted us ahead of the Middle 8s.”
