GIANTS assistant coach Paul Anderson has promised there will be a positive response from his side in the wake of Monday’s shock 30-18 defeat at Salford City Reds.

Huddersfield head into tonight’s Super League XV home clash against Castleford Tigers still smarting from that big setback.

The Giants are boosted by the return of Brett Hodgson, Eorl Crabtree, David Fa’alogo, Lee Gilmour and Keith Mason, who all sat out the Salford game.

And with these five keen to return and all those who played at Salford determined to make amends, Anderson expects the Giants to come up with a big performance.

“The performance on Easter Monday was unacceptable, and the key now is to move forward and look for a response,” said Anderson.

“Fortunately, we’ve seen a positive response in the way the players have reacted, and it’s now a case of taking that into the field tonight.

“Castleford have been struggling with injuries and I feel for them, but we can’t feel any sympathy for them.

“Tonight is all about us, and making sure we get straight back on the horse.

“We let ourselves down on Monday, and tonight is the chance to put things right.

“Tonight’s game will be our third in a week, which is tough.

“But we’ve known about this since the fixtures came out, and we hope we’ve got our selection right for this one.”

Castleford’s lengthy injury list continues to grow with playmaker Brent Sherwin now ruled out with a shoulder injury picked up during Monday’s heavy 52-18 home defeat to St Helens.

Kirk Dixon (sternum) and Steve Snitch (foot) are unlikely to return and Nathan Massey has also suffered a knock.

James Evans, Richard Owen, Brett Ferres and Dean Widders are out much longer.
