GIANTS coach Jon Sharp has revealed his frustration at not being able to recall his two on-loan players.

The injury crisis at the McAlpine would have made Ben Cooper and Matthew Whittaker certain starters for Sunday's Super League trip to champions Bradford Bulls (6.00).

But with centre Cooper on a month's loan at Leigh and back-rower Whittaker away for the same time at Halifax they are unavailable for Huddersfield this weekend - much to Sharp's bitter disappointment.

"Had these two been at my disposal they would have come into the reckoning, there's no question about it," said Sharp, who has 13 of his 25-man squad suffering injuries.

"But under loan rules you can't recall players during the first month.

"If the loan period is extended beyond that it's a different story, but right now I'm stuck.

"Clearly, had I known it would get as bad as this I wouldn't have let them go.

"Unfortunately, I haven't got a crystal ball.

"A couple of weeks ago, they were some way off getting into the senior side and we were delighted to get them first-team football elsewhere. How quickly things can change!"
