NO-NONSENSE Giants coach Jon Sharp is demanding his players produce their best performance of the year to guarantee Super League success over Widnes at the Galpharm tonight (8.00).

Huddersfield go into the Sky TV clash having lost their last three games.

Those have come at the hands of three of Super League's `big guns' in world champions Leeds, St Helens and Hull.

And all the smart money is on the Giants returning to winning ways against a Widnes side who are one place below them in the Super League ladder in 11th.

But with the Vikings' one win this season having come at home to Bradford Bulls three weeks ago by a deserved margin of 31-22, Sharp knows his side can take nothing for granted.

"Widnes have raised the bar from last season and are a well-organised side," observed Sharp.

"I watched them at Leeds the other week and in the first half they made it very difficult for them. They were still very much in the hunt at the break.

"And any side that can turn over Bradford Bulls clearly deserves the ultimate respect.

"That's what they will be getting from us.

"We've worked really hard in training to put things right after our disappointing performance against Leeds.

"And it's pretty clear the boys are determined to go out tonight and get back on track.

"That will be achieved if we produce our best performance of the season so far."

Sharp goes into the contest lacking the forward firepower of form prop Jim Gannon and captain and back-rower Ben Roarty.

But also missing is utility back Stuart Donlan.

He has been feeling a slight groin strain all week and it was decided to give him a rest to ensure he is 100% for the trip to Warrington the following Sunday.

Fortunately, full-back Paul Reilly is now fit after recovering from a calf strain and will take his place.

Opponents Widnes have added full-back Tim Holmes to their 18-man squad.

The loss of inspirational captain and hooker Shane Millard with a broken jaw and the late withdrawl of Adam Hughes means Vikings coach Frank Endacott has to change his 18-man squad for the first time in three games.

In Millard's absence, former Wigan youngster Mark Smith will play at No9.

* Sky Sports commentator Mike Stephenson will sign copies of his latest book, Stevo's Super League Diary, in the Giants club shop at the Galpharm between 5 and 6pm tonight.

The Giants are well covered in the book, which is priced at £12.99.
