Shaun Lunt is poised for a return to Huddersfield Giants action.

The 27-year-old Super League Dream Team hooker has missed his side’s last three top-flight triumphs with a troublesome calf injury.

But Huddersfield chief Paul Anderson is hoping he’ll be fit to return for Saturday’s home clash against Salford Red Devils as his side looks to make it 10 wins from their last 11 top-flight fixtures.

“Lunty’s clearly had a bit of an issue with his calf,” said Anderson.

“We’ve been trying to rehab it, and things like that, and we’re now hoping he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

“At this stage we won’t be ruling out Salford this weekend, we’ll just see how the week progresses.

“We’ve obviously not done too badly without him, with the wins over Leeds, London and Hull KR, but we’d still rather have him playing than not, which is the case with all our players.”

Apart from England back-row forward Brett Ferres, who is ruled out for two weeks with a quad injury and not potentially serious knee problem as initially feared, all those who featured in Thursday’s hard-fought 26-22 triumph at Hull KR are expected to be available for selection against the Red Devils.

And the injury to Ferres could mean a return for fellow vastly-experienced back-rower Jason Chan, who was 18th man against the Robins.
