HUDDERSFIELD Giants must start taking their chances if they are to prevent a slide down the Super League ladder.
That's the stark warning from head coach Jon Sharp as his side begins the countdown to Sunday's daunting home test against leaders Leeds Rhinos at the Galpharm Stadium (4.30).
While coach Tony Smith's Rhinos continue to go from strength to strength, his former club have suffered a major dip with seven defeats in their last nine games.
And Sharp admits an inability to finish chances is proving a major cause for concern.
"We're still very positive because we have been creating chances," said Sharp.
"The problem is that we have not been able to convert chances into points.
"To guarantee success at this level you have to be able to execute your plays, if you don't the outcome is almost inevitable.
"And the game at St Helens the other night was a classic example.
"In the first half we created four golden chances, but due to taking the wrong options or a bad bounce of the ball we came up empty.
"We can't afford to keep doing that if we are to hold on to our play-off place."
