Huddersfield Giants are ready to start Sunday’s pre-season clash at Hull KR with their strongest-possible back line.

Head coach Paul Anderson has confirmed it’ll be squad numbers one to seven for the opening exchanges of former Giants winger David Hodgson’s testimonial match at the KC Lightstream Stadium (3pm).

And with Robins boss Chris Chester also planning to start with his ‘big guns’, it promises to be an explosive trial encounter.

The Giants are two senior props down, with Craig Huby ruled out for at least the next six weeks with a broken hand and Eorl Crabtree being held back for next Saturday’s final warm-up fixture at home to Catalans Dragons.

However, with former New Zealand Test prop Sam Rapira set to make his debut and Daniel Smith looking forward to building on his first Giants pre-season following his move from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats midway through the last Super League campaign, Anderson’s men won’t be lacking any initial pack firepower.

On top of that, new hooker Ryan Hinchcliffe is also gearing up for his Giants bow following his move from top Australian NRL club Melbourne Storm, which suggests the visitiors will be holding very little back.
