NEW recruit Stuart Donlan has received the all-clear to resume full contact training with the Giants.
The 25-year-old former Halifax threequarter missed the final third of the Calderdale club's last Super League season with a badly damaged thumb.
It was an injury which required major surgery and up until now had restricted Donlan's training programme.
But his specialist has now given him the all-clear, enabling him to play a full and active role on the training field.
It also means there's nothing to prevent him from playing in the pre-season clash against Castleford at the McAlpine on January 30 next year.
"The thumb's been feeling good for a while now, but it was a case of hanging on to get the all-clear," said a relieved Donlan.
"When I first signed for the Giants, I was determined to be OK to resume full training at the start of pre-season.
"That, of course, was this week, and it was great when I was told I'd be fine.
"I was desperate to play as full a part as possible, because I've got a new head coach in Jon Sharp to impress and I know that competition for places in this squad will be intense.
"That's one of the reasons I chose the Giants ahead of several other clubs.
"There's no shortage of talented backs in the squad and I'm sure this competition to get a place in the starting line-up will bring the best out of all of us.
"I'm feeling good about next season already."
