Proud Leroy Cudjoe would love the Huddersfield Giants to win the Super League title for chairman Ken Davy.

The Huddersfield-born England centre has played a key role in helping his hometown club move to within two games of lifting the League Leaders’ Shield for the first time.

That will be secured with a win at London Broncos today and victory at home to Wakefield in 15 days or, if needed, a later success at Bradford Bulls on the final day of the regular season.

Cudjoe knows winning a piece of major silverware would be the highlight of his career so far.

But the 25-year-old knows it would mean just as much to Giants owner Davy, who has invested millions in the club over the years.

“Having lived in Huddersfield all my life I’ve seen the way the Giants have slowly and surely developed into a great club,” said former Newsome Panthers junior Cudjoe, who has been an ever-present this season.

“It’s difficult to explain how proud that makes me feel.

“And it would be a great story for us to lift the League Leaders’ Shield, not just for us (the players) but for the backroom staff and fans.

“But, more importantly, it would be a great way to repay Ken for all the time, money and effort he’s put in over the years. Getting his hands on the League Leaders’ Shield is the least he deserves.

“It’s down to him that the Giants are in the position we find ourselves now.

“I just hope we don’t blow it when the silverware is now within touching distance.

“We’ve obviously won nothing yet, so there’s still a lot of hard work to be done.

“There are still three games left and we need to be playing well and getting results to make sure we win this title, and build some momentum so we can make it a fantastic year and have a good go at the play offs.”
