GIANTS captain Chris Thorman has warned his teammates not to let the emotion of the big Millennium Magic weekend get the better of them.

In-form Huddersfield face rivals Wakefield at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Sunday (2.00) looking to make it six Super League wins on the trot.

It will be the first time many of the Giants have set foot inside the magnificent arena, which is hosting a full six top-flight fixtures over two days this weekend.

The 26-year-old goalkicking back knows playing at such a venue could prove an overwhelming experience.

And he is anxious the occasion doesn't affect the way his side perform.

"Those players in the Giants squad who have never been to the stadium are in the majority," said Thorman.

"I include myself in that, and I know I can't wait to see it for the first time.

"But we've done our best to make sure we don't dwell too long on what it's going to be like.

"We know this weekend is going to be special, and that it'll be an honour to play at one of the best stadiums there is.

"But we can't lose sight of the main reason why we are going down there - to collect two more Super League points.

"We must not forget that this is not a training exercise or an exhibition match.

"At stake in our game against Wakefield are two points, and we want them.

"As far as we're concerned, this match could have been played at Belle Vue or the Galpharm, because the prize at the end of it is the same.

"We've got to make sure we handle the occasion as well as the opposition, and make sure we pick up the win that could get us into the top six for the first time.

"That's a massive source of motivation in itself.

"So, our aim this weekend is to enjoy the occasion, but not let it get the better of us, and continue to enjoy the way we are playing."
